National Sadh Bhavana Divas celebrated at St Philomena College, promoting ‘Unity in Diversity

Puttur, Aug 22: St Philomena College, in collaboration with its various units such as NCC Army and Navy, NSS, Physical Education Department, and Rovers and Rangers, celebrated the National Sadh Bhavana Divas on 21 August 2023 in the PG Seminar Hall of the college. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the principal of the college, addressed the gathering during the event. He highlighted that India is renowned worldwide for its principle of Unity in Diversity. The country is home to people from diverse religions, castes, creeds, races, languages, traditions, and cultures, all coexisting harmoniously. The Indian constitution defines equality among citizens and grants every individual the freedom to live according to their own aspirations. Dr Monteiro emphasized that alongside enjoying the benefits conferred by the constitution, it is also the responsibility of every citizen to actively promote peace and harmony within society.

The event featured an oath-taking ceremony as part of the National Sadhbhavana Divas celebration, led by Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro. Prof. Vasudev, the NSS coordinator, expressed gratitude and Lt. Johnson Sequeira, the NCC officer, oversaw the proceedings as the master of the ceremony.

The occasion saw the participation of all teaching and non-teaching staff members, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, students from the Rovers and Rangers unit, as well as college athletes. This collective participation symbolized the commitment to fostering unity, harmony, and goodwill among individuals from diverse backgrounds, in line with the ethos of the National Sadhbhavana Divas.
