Sullia, Aug 23: A couple of Tamil Nadu working as rubber tappers at a farm in Yelimale of Sullia taluk hanged themselves and ended their lives.

Shivakumar alias Rajan (54) and his wife Muthulakshmi (47) are the deceased couple and the incident came to light on Tuesday, August 22.

The couple was engaged in tapping of rubber. They had built a home of their own in Yelimale of Nalooru Karmaji village. During the last few years they were engaged in rubber tapping in Gudda of Devachalla village where they had bought a plot of land. Their son was working in Bengaluru while one of their daughters was married to a youth in Uppinangady and another one to a man in Valalambe. The couple was living in Sullia.

On Monday night, it is said the couple had a quarrel. Muthulakshmi had told her daughter who lives in Sullia about it. Rajan who was aggrieved was the first to hang himself and end his life. On seeing this, his wife too ended her life, it is suspected.
