Dharwad: Line Umpire Passes Away During Match

Dharwad, Aug 8: A person, discharging duty as a line umpire for a tournament here, suffered massive heart attack and succumbed on the spot on Sunday August 7. The incident occurred at the district indoor stadium here.

M L Joshi (61) was working as a line umpire for the All India Railway Badminton Championship. While discharging duty in that capacity, he suddenly collapsed. Immediately, he was taken to a hospital. But the doctors there declared him brought dead.

Joshi had retired last year after working in the divisional office of Life Insurance Corporation of India here. He happened to be a good badminton player. During his younger days, he had undertaken trekking in the Himalayas a number of times. His wife, Shashikala, is employed in a bank. She is also into theatre activities.
