Bantwal: Day long seminar held for Yakshagana teachers

Bantwal, Aug 23: Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation held a day’s seminar for the Yakshagana teachers at the Rangoli hotel, B C Road on Tuesday, August 22.

The seminar was presided over by Yakshagana Dashavatari Soorikumeru Govinda Bhat. A handbook on the subject of Yakshagana was released so that uniform Yakshagana education may be available considering the difference of opinions in Thenkutittu plays and beating of drums.

Director of Yakshadhruva and Yaksha education Patla Sathish Shetty delivered the keynote address explaining the intention of Yakshagana education and various stages on the preparations of the handbook.

Yakshagana scholars Dr M Prabhakar Joshi, Prof M L Samaga, Yakshagana senior artiste Bantwal Jayarama Acharya, Sanjay Kumar Gonibeedu, Umesh Shetty Ubaradka, Shivarama Jogi, Padmanabha Upadhyaya, Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation trust secretary Purushotham Bhandary, office-bearers Sarapady Ashok Shetty, Chandrahasa Shetty and Yakshagana education convener Panambur Vasudeva Aithal were present.

Yakshagana convener Karnataka Yakshagana Academy former president Prof M L Samaga conducted the seminar. Divit S K Peradi, Yakshagana teacher introduced the handbook and gave explanations.

Rakesh Rai Adka and Rakshit Shetty Padre gave a performance and Prasad Cherkadi, Ram Prakash Kalluraya, Yajnesh Rai Kateel worked in the background. More than 25 Yakshagana teachers took part in the seminar.
