Puttur: Three arrested for shooting, killing stag in forest

Puttur, Aug 24: Forest department officials arrested three people and confiscated a dead stag that was shot by the accused in Patrame reserve forest near Uppinangady.

Deputy zonal officer Lokesh, Ashok, forest guard Vinaya Chandra and jeep driver Kishore were on a night patrol near Kapila river on Wednesday August 23 based on a definite tip-off. They heard a gunshot and rushed to the spot and arrested Sudesha, Punit and Kotiappa Gowda. However, the stag was dead by then.

The accused were presented before the zonal officer Jayaparkash. Further investigation is being done by Uppinangady zonal officer.
