Mangaluru: Various clubs, associations inaugurated at Milagres College for new academic year

Mangaluru, Aug 24: Milagres PU College, Hampankatta, inaugurated various clubs and associations for the academic year 2023-24 on August 21. All the club members, co-ordinators and other students gathered in the PU college auditorium.

The chief guest Sacheth Suvarna lecturer in history, government PU college, Kavoor, principal Melwin Vas, Kiran D’Souza lecturer in English, Jyothi Rathna lecturer in economics, Ahmed Nisar student council leader and Mohammed Shakib Khan student NSS leader were present during the event.

The dignitaries, principal, NSS programme officer, coordinators and student leaders inaugurated the NSS unit, Junior Red Cross unit, Eco Club and Anti-Drug Club by lighting the lamp.

In the inaugural address, the chief guest Sacheth Suvarna gave an insight about the origin of the Red Cross. Then he said that the fundamental principles of the Red Cross should help in developing peace, cordiality and humanitarian values among the volunteers.

He also guided the students about the various activities to be conducted by the Junior Red Cross unit, Eco Club and Anti-Drug Club.

Principal Melwin Vas presided over the inaugural programme. In his presidential address, he said, “At a very young age, the students can nurture their talents by participating in co-curricular activities and it will encourage them in building their career in the area of their choice.”

Principal Melwin Vas administered oaths of the NSS unit, Junior Red Cross unit and Sadbhavana Diwas. NSS programme officer Kiran D’Souza welcomed the gathering by introducing the chief guest.

The programme was compered by Ameefa Afreena I HEBA 'B' and Jothi Rathna coordinator of Eco Club proposed the vote of thanks.
