Mangaluru: Registration on portal mandatory to get relief in rain, flood damage

Mangaluru, Aug 24: It is mandatory for people who have lost their homes and property due to rains and floods to register on the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation portal to avail themselves of additional compensation.

The first phase of compensation is given to all those who have lost their house and property due to rains and floods in the month of July.

For additional compensation, the joint committee formed by DC has to visit the place and categorise the house whether it falls under A, B1, B2 or C. After the classification, the same needs to be registered on the portal of Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation.

The order says that the compensation should be disbursed within 20 days of spot inspection by the joint committee.

So far compensation was being given under SDRF and NDRF guidelines. However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has had video conference with the DCs and asked them to pay additional compensation.

Under A category, any house that is damaged by more than 75%, Rs 5 lacs will be given. Under B1, any house that is damaged between 25% to 75% will be get a compensation of Rs 3 lacs. Under B2 any house that is damaged by 25% to 75% and needs new construction Rs 5 lacs will be given. In the C category in which the house is damaged by 15.25% an amount of Rs 50,000 is given as compensation.
