Mangaluru, Aug 25: A case is filed in CEN crime police station in the city in which it is accused that strangers threatened to post nude pictures of a young girl, who took loan through a loan app.

According to details, the girl downloaded the Quick Money app from Google Playstore and applied for a loan of Rs 10000. Immediately, Rs 7500 was credited to her account. The girl promptly repaid the amount in a few days.

Later, a few strangers called her through several WhatsApp numbers and pressurised her to take more loan and deposited Rs 14000 to her account. The girl repaid the second loan amount too. However, the strangers pressured her to repay more money and got Rs 51000 transferred from her account. The strangers were not satisfied and demanded more money from the girl. When she denied to pay up, they threatened to send her nude photo with some other boy to her friends and relatives.

The CEN police are inquiring further.

A parallel economy has started after abrupt digitalization wherein majority of the population does not even know how to operate simple computer software; then, how can one imagine to tackle the fraud menace, which comes in such Smart ways that even so called techies are not spared! There is an immediate need to research and find out the amount of money siphoned off everyday just by taking into account the fraud complaints lodged daily across the country! The worst thing is that 99% of these fraudsters cannot be trapped as they use advanced applications which are impossible to track; and the cyber security is ways behind the criminals involved! Funniest thing is that most of these fraudsters are not even 10th grades, operating from remote areas, but have self studied all the loop holes in the system to exploit! As AI develops, more and more complex techniques to defraud can be expected! God save!!
