Beltangady: Absconding accused arrested after 27 years

Beltangady, Aug 25: A man, who was in judicial custody after being accused of stealing sandalwood and got released on bail and was absconding for 27 years, was apprehended by police of the town.

S A Ashraf, a resident of Kundapur Mane of Varkady village in Manjeshwar taluk of Kasargod is the accused arrested by police.

It is said that Ashraf was living in Mumbai and Saudi Arabia for the last 27 years.

Inspector Nagesh Kadri, ASI Dhanaraj T M, Chandrashekhar, Head constables Bennicchan, Gangadhar and Ashok were involved in the operation. Ashraf was sent to judicial custody.
