Space technology will catapult India as a developed nation by 2047, says PM

Bengaluru, Aug 26 (IANS): With the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission, India will emerge as a global leader in space technology and giant strides in the field will help the country emerge as a modern, developed nation by 2047, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Saturday.

The Prime Minister was addressing the gathering of scientists at the Command Centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru in a programme organized against the backdrop of the Chandrayaan-3 mission success.

“You have the people's trust and blessings of mother earth to carry out this mission,” he said, referring to the scientists of the national space agency.

"The youth is ready for the challenge. In the last four years, there were four start-ups in the field of space science. Presently the number has gone up to 150.”

The space industry has expanded from 1 billion dollars to 16 billion dollars. The government has taken serious note of this and wants to reform and invest in space science. The spirit of science and innovation in this country was trampled by slavery. This spirit needs to be unleashed and the world should know the capabilities of India, PM Modi underlined .

The youth should explore the depths of the sea and reach the sky and beyond to the solar system. Make next-generation computers focus on genetic engineering, the new windows of opportunity have opened in India, he said.

Underlining that the Chandrayaan-3 mission is not only India's success but of humanity, the PM said, “Our mission will be explored by all countries. It will help face the challenges of the earth. Our Pragyaan rover is leaving its traces on the Moon. The pictures taken on the Moon are wonderful. First time in the history of the world, since the earth evolved, humans are seeing those pictures. India has done the job. You (ISRO scientists) have done the job. The whole world believes in the Indian scientific spirit, technology and capabilities of scientific temperament, PM Modi stated.

Expressing his longingness to meet the scientists after the successful landing on the Moon, he said that this rare happiness fills the body and soul by such events. “Though I was in South Africa, and Greece, my mind and heart were with you (ISRO scientists). As soon as I set my foot in India, I wanted to see you all and salute your work,” PM Modi stated.

“Salute your hard work, courage, commitment, spirit of life. This is not an ordinary success. India has sounded the bugle of its capacity in the world of space. India is on the Moon. We have our national pride placed on the Moon. We are there where there is no one. We have done what’s not done before. This is new India. “Naya Bharat naya sochta hai, naya tareeka sochta hai,” he said.

The dark zone of the Moon where the successful landing is done has given a ray of hope to the world. In the 21st century, India will give solutions to the problems of the world.

He described the movement of celebration at ISRO moments after the success of the mission as "eternal and inspirational".

Making a special mention of women scientists' contribution, Prime Minister Modi said, "From the creation of the earth to destruction, the woman is behind them and she is the source of power. We derive power from our mothers and sisters".

Enough of these catapults since last 10 years...may be time for starting something new. Renaming the institutions on land and now naming the places on moon will not eliminate poverty and suffering of people. These nautankis will continue till people use their brains to differentiate between truth and lies. Since, no rains this year may be time for migrating to moon by trackless Bullet Express trains powered by pistonless double engines. Bhajao thaliyan aur ghantiyan...!!!

That's true but mind set of political leaders and And Bhakts and communal activists will remain at the primitive stage as long as the communal heads rule our country. Politicians must divert their attention and resources for the development of the country and humanity and not for religion-oriented goals and wishes.

All that big talks by our PM but no rewards except for the masses of SC/ST/OBC and that too only for their majority and votes. In fact all those involved in such a massive successful feat should be awarded as sportsmen and sportswomen get politicians post for lifetime benefits. PM said India will now give solutions to the problems in the world! Indians should give solutions to the problems in India, the other countries in the space race are highly advanced and I dont believe they need solutions from India. Carrying out research on the moons soil will not put food on our tables and not pay our utility bills for Indians in India that are ever rising with more scarcities and unaffordabilities. Bangalore was selling tomato at Rs.130 per Kg. at the beginning of this month! PM should have come down to Bangalore to address this problem. Space research has not done any country good including the USA, its still a struggle in USA for most USA citizens and LPRs. President Barack Obama put a stop to NASAs unnecessary expense and asked them to focus more on research on the ground and in particular in the USA for the highest gun violence and crime rate and poverty and homelessness.

It is important that Indian politicians as well as citizens (a particular group at least) know the difference between economy and development. Development is not all about the economy. India is in 5th place in the world if you look at economy (GDP of 3750 billion USD and PCI of 2.6 thousand USD), USA is the first with GDP of 26,854 billion USD and 80.03 thousand USD. China 2nd (19,374 / 13.72) Japan 3rd (4,410 /35.39) Germany at 4 (4,309/51.38). Then the countries below India are UK (3,159/46.31), France (2,924/44.41), Italy (2,170/36.81), Canada (2,090/52.72) and Brazil (2,080/9.67) Our Per Capita Income (PCI) is the lowest, even below Brazil. China, India an d Brazil are NOT developed countries in spite of one of the top 10 economies. On the other hand Switzerland is at 20th place, well below Indonesia (16th) Australia is 13th, Netherland 17th and Saudi Arabia 18th. Indonesia is NOT a developed country but Switzerland is. Indians try very hard to immigrate to those countries who are below India when it comes to economy but they immigrate for better life style, equality and individual respect . Development comes when there is Social parity, equal treatment in everything irrespective of gender, caste, religion, education, economic position and social status. Too much talk about trillion economy, but these politicians forgot that the word DEVELOPED comes when there is equality for all, not just because of economy.
