New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) Disruptions continued in the Rajya Sabha Tuesday as members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shouted slogans against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, who they held responsible for appointing Suresh Kalmadi as chief of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee.
The house was first adjourned till 12 noon over the opposition clamour for the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. When the house again met at 12 noon, a discussion began on Sports Minister Ajay Maken's statement on Kalmadi.
While the Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley blamed the Congress-led government for appointing Kalmadi as the CWG chief, some BJP members started blaming Sonia Gandhi.
They shouted slogans like "gali gali me shor hai … Sonia Gandhi chor hai", which angered the Congress members who gathered near the chairman's podium. Amid the ruckus, the house was adjourned for 15 minutes.
Maken had last week said the paperwork was already signed by the BJP-led government that ensured Kalmadi's appointment and there was little the Congress-led government could do to remove him.
