Moodbidri: Carmel School holds session on ‘Health, Nutrition and Sanitation’

Moodbidri, Aug 27: Carmel School organised a session on ‘Health, Nutrition and Sanitation’ category wise for the students of grade I to X on August 23.

The enlightening session started with a soulful prayer song that filled the hearts of the gathering with positivity and harmony. The resource person for this session was Prof Jasmine Saritha Vas, professor at Yenepoya Nursing College Mangaluru. She was welcomed by Sr Maria Gracilda AC, the principal with a potted sapling. Sr Preena AC the vice principal, Sr Ranitha the coordinator were also present during the session. In the first session, areas such as personal hygiene and menstrual cycle, effects of junk and fatty food were discussed by giving effective examples. Valuable inputs to the students about the science behind menstruation and myths surrounding it was also explained simultaneously. The girls were taught basic hygiene that should be maintained during menstruation practical steps to stay safe and maintain hygiene routine was also discussed.

In the second session topics like personal hygiene, benefits of good hygiene, oral health and many other related topics were discussed.

In the third session, she stressed on the effects of mental health, emotional, psychological and social well-being, biological factors or chemical imbalances in the brain, having improvement in relationship, sense of inner peace or calm and many more. Through PowerPoint presentations all the three sessions were made more illustrative and interesting .Students learnt many important things about personal hygiene which is very essential for a better lifestyle and to maintain good health. All the three sessions remained interesting and interactive during the session. Interesting action songs and games were also played to keep the students engaged .Students were happy and excited to clear the doubts and make use of the acquired knowledge in daily life and to maintain a better social mental and physical health in the sensitive issues of life.

The objectives of the session was to emphasize the importance of good nutrition and proper diet to remain healthy and free from chronic malnutrition and also to create awareness among students about the importance of hygiene. 

The session was compered by Anora of grade VII, Riazel Ciyanna Serrao and Ansh Krishnan of grade V welcomed the gathering, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Joswin Lobo.
