Mangaluru: Anil Lobo gets re-elected chairman of MCC Bank for second term

Mangaluru, Aug 28: Directors of The Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Bank, popularly known as MCC Bank Limited have re-elected Anil Lobo from Valencia, Mangaluru as chairman of the Bank in the first board of directors meeting held on Monday, August 28, in the administrative office of the Bank, Hampankatta, Mangaluru for a period of five years from 2023 to 2028.

Jerald Jude D'Silva was elected as the vice–chairman of the Bank. Sudhir Kumar J, assistant registrar of Co-operative Societies, Mangaluru Division supervised the election processes and N J Gopal, superintendent assisted him.

Sunil Menezes, general manager of the Bank was present on the occasion.

After taking over the charge as the chairman of MCC Bank Limited for the consecutive second term, that too unanimously by an elected team of 14 directors, Anil Lobo said, “Unopposed and unanimous elections for the first time ever in the 111 years history of the MCC Bank Ltd is a testimony to the all-round developmental work and growth and the performance of this team. Next five years we will be concentrating on pan–Karnataka expansion of the bank, skill and knowledge development of the staff, professional and customer friendly services in the branches, focus on education, vehicle, MSME and business loans, full pledged UPI and digital banking services and setting up of banking ombudsman like fully functional grievance redress unit at the administrative office directly reporting to the chairman of the bank.”

Expansion

Presently The MCC Bank Ltd is functioning with fully computerised 16 air- conditioned branches in twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi with ATMs in all branches. The Bank has received permission from Government of
Karnataka to expand its area of operation to five more districts last year. They are Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu and Hassan.

Setting up of the branches in these five districts is going on. Efforts are on to set up regional offices in districts for the smooth functioning.

The Bank is working hard to expand the area of operation of the bank to pan Karnataka.

Lowest rate of interest on loans

Compared to other banks the rate of interest on education, vehicle and MSME business loans are lowest and competitive. Loan sanctioning process is quick and there are no hidden costs. To reduce the burden of processing fees on students the Bank has decided to waive off processing fees on education loans up to a loan amount of Rs.10 lacs.

MCC Bank is working hard in realising its vision - Empowerment through Education, with lowest interest rates, quick processes and zero processes fee up to a loan amount of Rs 10 lacs for a limited period of time. Students who have just finished admission processes through CET on NEET can make the best use of the facility offered by the bank.

Customer Service

With a state of the art, modern staff training center, staff across the branches of MCC bank is fully trained and well versed in professional banking practices.

The management has received very good feedback on improved customer service in the customer meets organized in all the branches. Most of the branches are shifted to better locations with ample parking facilities and senior citizen friendly approaches.

A new unit will be established to address the grievances at the administrative office like the banking ombudsman system which will be directly monitored by the chairman. Customers who face any issues on the services offered at the branches can approach the unit and the issues will be resolved. Despite this branch level customer meets will also continue.There will be a specially assigned staff at every branch to assist the senior citizens.

Digitisation

Presently, a mobile banking app is catering to the needs of netizens. The Bank will be introducing independent UPI functionality by the end of current financial year and servers are already hired for the purpose. With fully functional UPI mechanism the customers can avail all facilities of new age digital banking.


Social Responsibility

During 110 years of The MCC Bank, the bank has distributed a sum of Rs. 15 lacs to the marginalised sections of the society in the form of medical, education, housing aid and assistance towards the marriage expenses of daughters of needy and poor families.

Prominent festivals of the land like Dasara will be celebrated with special sports and cultural activities with public participation. The auditorium of the Bank in the administrative building of the bank is provided free of cost to small literary and cultural events.The bank will extend its socio–community support as earlier.
