Operation Hast: Deve Gowda asks JDS workers not to desert him at the age of 91

Bengaluru, Aug 28 (IANS): As the ruling Congress in Karnataka moves ahead aggressively to poach leaders from the opposition parties including the JD (S), its supremo and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda announced that he has pledged to save the party.

Speaking to reporters, Deve Gowda declared that no legislator will quit the JD (S). The news about the JD (S) leaders’ alleged exodus to the Congress is just a rumour, he added.

He maintained that a meeting would be held on September 10 and party leaders and workers from all the districts would take part in it. “I request all the workers not to desert me at the age of 91,” he appealed.

Many programmes would be organized. “We don’t have hatred towards opposition parties. I want to organize programmes in the interest of the party. We will organize the party and save it. I will also actively take part in party work. I have resolved to retain the identity of the party, facing competition from the national parties Congress and BJP,” he stated.

“I know how the politics of the country works. The core committee members will tour the state. I am watching the developments after the Congress took over the reins of government. No one should take former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy (his son) lightly. No one can take him for granted,” Deve Gowda said.

Meanwhile, the Congress is vigorously moving ahead with the plans for “Operation Hast” through which it is trying to poach leaders from the JD (S) which has 19 MLAs and one MP. The Congress, by projecting deputy chief minister D.K. Shivakumar as the face of the party in the assembly elections, managed to dent the influential Vokkaliga vote bank in south Karnataka.

The Vokkaliga vote bank is the core strength of the JD (S) and the Vokkaligas rallied behind Deve Gowda. Shivakumar succeeded in emerging as the alternate leader of the Vokkaliga community. There is a straight fight between Kumaraswamy and Shivakumar for the Vokkaliga vote bank, sources said.

If the JD (S) leaders join the Congress, it will strengthen the hands of Shivakumar. According to sources, Shivakumar has planned to pull more than six MLAs from the JD (S) to weaken the Deve Gowda family.

Gowda you should retire and enjoy your life before it’s too late. Let young people do politics now. Why you worried for control in politics? Don’t act like a fox.

From a small time party worker .. works contract etc etc (No better example of dynasty politics ) Shri Devegowda rose by ....Machiavelli type politics ... To become chief minister.. prime minister.. his son chief minister.. another son minister...daughter-s —in-law. Also .... incl. grandchildren... .. not with extraordinary educational qualifications......... be that as it may ... Shri. Devegowda should ask in the evening.. of his years ... His many roles as a slithery politician ... no ideology... no farmers .. no secularism.. What he did to his loyal party workers .. repeatedly ditched them to favour family members ... OUR PRESENT CHIEF MINISTER IS AN EXAMPLE... Formerly in JDS .. Shri Siddaramaiah felt suffocated with all family members in Same. Basket .... Anyway all individual members are immensely rich .so even if living in desert there is. Enough!..

With all respect to the grand old man of Karnataka, the JD(S)'s days are numbered in Karnataka. About two decades ago I was an ardent supporter of JD(S). When Deve Gowda's son started hob-knobbing with the communal forces, we were forced to abandon the party. Initially HDD was against this alliance, but his excessive ಪುತ್ರ ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯ got the better of him and now HDD defends every step that his son takes. I want to tell HDD that the biggest enemy of his party is not the Congress or the BJP, but his own son HDK. He has totally destroyed the JD(S).

This Appa Magha & family party are on the brink of extinction, at age 91 he is upset that loss of power means loss of money that they have been addicted to given the wealth amassed by the so called “humble farmer” - his son, HDK was over confident of a back door entry should there have been a hung assembly in KA - all hopes dashed and now the grand old man is begging on sentiments, too late, people in KA have shown the JD-S their place and they are now history, all their MLA’s who are genetically power and money hungry will now jump ship and either join Congress or BJP. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Correct.. Earlier it was audacity that parties will eventually come to our feet in case of hung assembly. Now crocodile tears are flowing in abundance and begging for survival. Whole life father son duo looted money and played dirty politics making alliances according to their convenience. Kari musudi had openly said that its normal to have corruption in politics. Such is his mentality. I wish JDS MLAS hop to different parties leaving appa maga to see their party getting crumbled slowly.

When partymen find the JDS leader HDK leading the party to doom, why will they remain with him? All the time he makes fake allegations about having the content in a Pen drive etc. making a joke of himself. In their own interest, the JDS members should voluntarily join the Congress if they believe in the same ideology.
