Udupi, Aug 29: Raghavendra, chief secretary of federation of truck and tempo owners’ association of the district said, “Truck and tempo owners of the district are in difficulty due to the order of the government to pay life tax for goods vehicles. As such our business is down. This order is like rubbing salt on our wounds.”
Speaking at the press conference, Raghavendra further said, “We used to pay tax once in three months. Now the government has taken out an order that the tax of 15 years needs to be paid at once. This is difficult for us. So the government should withdraw this order. It seems that the state government needs urgent funds and they have put the load on us. Even the opposition BJP and JD (S) are not speaking for us.
“In addition, the government has also asked to install GPS for vehicles transporting metals and sub metals. The need of GPS is required more by the district administration so they should install it and give to us,” he said.
