Auto-rickshaw driver kills 17-yr teen on suspicion of flirting with wife

Mumbai, Aug 31 (IANS): In a shocking incident, an auto-rickshaw driver has been arrested for allegedly killing and chopping a teenage boy who he suspected was flirting with his wife and sister-in-law.

The accused will be produced before a Magistrate Court on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Monday when the accused, identified as Shafiq Abdulmajid Sheikh, 33, of Chembur allegedly killed the minor, then chopped off his body into three-four pieces.

He stuffed these dismembered pieces in three plastic bags and hid them below the kitchen platform of his home, planning to dispose of them later, before going about his routine chores.

On Wednesday, his wife came home after visiting her parents’ home in nearby Bharatnagar, and detected a foul smell from the kitchen and even complained to Sheikh who tried to divert her mind.

When she persisted, her husband finally broke down and confessed to the crime after which the shocked wife informed the police who rushed there.

In his police statement later, Sheikh claimed that he and his family were very fond of the boy whom they treated like a family member for the past more than seven years.

Even his wife and sister-in-law treated the boy like a brother, but Sheikh disliked the boy for reportedly teasing, flirting or inappropriately touching the womenfolk and hence resorted to the extreme step.

Police probe has revealed that Sheikh had been arrested around 2014 in a murder case by Raigad Police but was acquitted.

The victim’s body has been sent to Sir J.J. Hospital for an autopsy while Sheikh has been charged under various sections of IPC and MCOCA and shall be produced before a court today.
