India Should Address Corruption: Dalai Lama

New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS): Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Wednesday said there was a lot of corruption in India and China, but New Delhi should address it seriously as it is more god-fearing and religious minded.

"China and India are developing countries but there is a lot of corruption because of lack of moral ethics. Without ethics, whenever an opportunity to cheat comes, people do it. Laws cannot control such things fully," the Dalai Lama said.

He was addressing a gathering of the National Commission for Minorities.

"When I hear of corruption in China, I think that's ok, because they are believers of power, money. They are non-believers," he said.

"India is more religious minded. There is no third way. The options are, either remain a believer, god fearing and do the right thing, or become a non-believer, worship money and carry on with corruption without moral principles," he added.

"All these drawbacks should be looked into seriously and addressed immediately," he said.
