Karkala: Clerk caught red-handed by Lokayukta while accepting bribe

Karkala, Sep 1: Udupi Lokayukta police raided Ajekar Nadakacheri office on Thursday August 31 and arrested first division clerk who was receiving bribe from a person.

Nizamuddin, a first division clerk of the office is the person who was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta sleuths. He had demanded a Rs 5000 bribe from a person of Hirgana origin for making a family map. The complainant had given Rs 4000 as first instalment and informed the matter to Lokayukta. Accordingly, Nizamuddin was caught red-handed while receiving Rs 1000 bribe as second instalment.

Nizamuddin has been working in the office for the past 15 years.

Lokayukta SP Simon, DySP K C Prakash, PI Rafiq, personnel Nagesh Udupa, Nagaraj, Mallika, Sathish, Abdul, Ravindra and Sooraj took part in the operation.

    It is just " Tip of the ice burg " . Bribe is a prevailing sickness in almost all the Govt departments. Everyone in the dept are mostly involved. I am sure all of the officials, get a share of the pound of flesh in these bribery cases.

    Older generation where our birth was registered in village accountant office, when we need a birth certificate it is so diifucult. Why are we guving bribe ? It is not a favour infact it is our right and routine to submit certain papers.

    Monti Dotor mangalore,As if sidda can check everywhere.Starting from clarks and Police too ending with big lawyers .One has to bring work forward and punctuell.Otherwise it is not moving forwards.Sometimes we all are disgusted looking at the work going in offices.coffee time lunch time and rest time.How many hours work one in offices ?Common man sits in court or office to finish work atleast 4or more hours ,that he has to take leave or minus hours by his office.
