Kundapur, Sep 2: A car collided with an autorickshaw in a bid to overtake another car. A young woman, who was travelling in the auto-rickshaw died, while two youths were seriously injured.

The accident occurred on Friday September 1 evening, opposite the house of Kambalagadde G P Shetty at Moodlakatte in Kandavara village on state highway 52.

The deceased is identified as Ambika (22), a resident of Amparu. Her brother Shantarama and relative Nayana Kumar were seriously injured. The trio were travelling back home after visiting their relatives at Vaderahobali.

As the auto-rickshaw approached Moodlakatte, the car driven by Vasantha Poojary crashed onto the vehicle in a bid to overtake another car. The impact of the crash was so severe that the auto-rickshaw somersaulted and fell on the car in the front. Ambika was seriously injured and died on the way to hospital. Shantaram and Nayan Kumar were admitted to the hospital.

A case is registered in Kundapur traffic police station.
