Mangaluru, Sep 2: District Congress president K Harish Kumar said that the five ‘Guarantee’ schemes assured by the present government are working well but the opposition party is misleading the people before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the media on Saturday September 2, he said, “So far, the implemented guarantees are working well. Out of five, four guarantee schemes have been launched already. Shakti Yojana saw great success. Soon, Yuva Nidhi Yojana will also be implemented. These schemes were implemented to benefit the people. But the opposition party is misleading the public by questioning whether these schemes are for free or like a loan.

“In the recent days, the prices of LPG has come down. During the previous government, even though they claimed to reduce the prices of petrol, they refused to do so by saying that the central government does not have any right to decide the prices of fuel. But now, when the present government has reduced the prices of LPG cylinders, the dealers of the oil companies have placed the photos of PM Narendra Modi in their companies, thinking that the ruling party at the centre was responsible for this change. This is not right. The dealers must not encourage this. Instead, one should look after the needs of the poor people and not grab the attention of the people by misleading them.

“India has a very large population. Since we got independence, poverty is increasing day-by-day along with the population. All we can do is to help the poor section of the society by providing them with these schemes. Poverty is a problem which cannot be solved immediately. That is why these schemes are brought to help the poor people in the society,” he said.

When a reporter questioned the frequent power-cuts after the implementation of Gruha Jyothi scheme in the state, he said, “There is nothing to do between load shedding and Gruha Jyothi. This is happening due to lack of rainfall. Last year, during the rainy season, less power was consumed. But this year, due to an increase in the temperature, the power consumption is very high. The amount of power consumption has not seen any difference even after the implementation of Gruha Jyothi scheme. It is the same as before.”

Speaking on the present protest which is happening demanding justice in Soujanya murder case, he said, “The reinvestigation must take place. All the irrelevant matters must be kept aside and the focus must be shifted to providing justice.”

Congress leaders A C Bhandary, J Abdul Saleem, Subhash Shetty, Surendra Kambli, Jayasheela Adyanthaya, Purushottam Chitrapura, Lawrence D’Souza, Neeraj Pal and others were present.

Guarantees are working perfectly well for people and ruling congress and negatively affecting opposition BJP. All of a sudden BJP is showing lot of concern about Karnataka’s finances due to guarantees which they themselves were not bothered and destroyed the finances and economy of Karnataka during thier rule and swallowed all the money. In fact now under congress rule karnataka’s economy is in much better shape, no 40% loot commission and people are a lot happier.
