Sanatan Dharma remark row: Priyank Kharge takes on BJP's B L Santhosh, raises caste division issue

Bengaluru, Sep 5 (IANS): Defending Tamil Nadu Minister and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement on "eradication of Sanatana Dharma", Karnataka Minister for RDPR, IT and BT Priyank Kharge on Tuesday challenged and questioned BJP national General Secretary B.L. Santhosh, saying "who divided society on the basis of caste?"

Santhosh while condemning the statement of Udhayanidhi Stalin, stated that "if there is an infection in somebody’s stomach, you chop off the head?"

Priyank Kharge, referring to the caste system said, “Mr. B.L. Santhosh, I am happy that you agreed that there is an infection to be treated.”

"There have been many infections for over thousands of years and it is still prevalent today that discriminates between humans and denies them their dignity of being a human."

“I am not as intelligent as you are, but please enlighten me. - Who put these rules in the society? - What makes someone more righteous than the other? - Who divided us on caste lines? - Why are certain people untouchables? - Why can’t they enter temples even now? - Who got into these practices that underline the inferior status of women? Who got into the caste based social structure, which is unequal and oppressive?” Priyank Kharge questioned.

“No one intends to chop off the head, but one needs to cure the infection with equal rights and dignity to all. The only cure to all these infections is the Constitution to which your organization (RSS and BJP) and you (B.L. Santhosh) are against. You are from Karnataka, please spread the preachings of Guru Basavanna, it will help us build a more equitable society," Kharge added.

    Mr.Kharge why making a mockery of yourself?. Didnt you face the recent elections and fought for your ticket solely based on your caste.. all these ministers of all parties are the same... taking advantage of public sentiments and making a fool out of them

    Even after 75 years of positive discrimination enabled by the constitution; and thanks to the same we have clans like Kharge whose wellbeing (they are more than doing well) was unthinkable without such positive discrimination. If they are invoking it now, it only shows that they are getting addicted to this positive discrimination. And yes, our English education actually teaches this and let us be fare, caste based discrimination was there. But today, we have come one full circle and will never let it go, because the prevailing narrative and its fruits are too good to let go. Today, the criteria for lower or higher caste is money and money only. Everything else has to do with who forms the larger voter base. What is the caste of our President, PM, CM, DyCM, Speaker and most Karnataka ministers?

    Caste system started by Sanatana Dharma. Sanatana made similar people as untouchable. Sanatana dividing the society in India.This is possible only in Sanatana Dharma.

    Vast sections of the society is well aware who created untouchability, and discriminating caste system such as upper and lower castes etc. If we have made real progress and talents alone are our yardsticks to achieve progress, there shouldn't be such discriminating and superstitious practices in the society.

    The discrimination on caste line was severely practiced by the upper class till not-so-distant past., during my good olden childhood days., when I was playing kabaddi or cricket or kutti done.., we used to reach out to nearby upper-class home..., and we used to get water on Coconut shell., and we must hold it distantly., Just an example., even upper class woman were asked to wear red sary and must cover their head, and not allowed to mix freely, we are told that any one sees them it is a bad omen.. etc., to name a few.., However, time has changed, and all lower cast people got good education & jobs in Bank/LIC/GIC/Govt offices, legal/accounts/medical profession/ etc., (with the help of Visionary leaders like NEHRU/Iron Lady INDIRAJI/Shri Rajivji etc., thus empowered economically to stand confidently next to upper-class people with our head high.., Time for Chai now.,

    One Nation, one election, one nation universal civil code. On nation one caste. No oonch caste nor beech caste. All can perform pooja's homa, Havana, one nation one gender either male nor female. Possible, no not possible, may be chaiwala and mohan bhagaawath can agree. President of India, no. President of Bharat.

    Rolf, Dubai: The stricture was not against doctorates that are genuinely earned, but honorary doctorates, not for medical doctors who have MBBS but for country doctors who do not have a medical degree, not for learned doctors who earned their doctorates from recognized universities. These latter are proud to show that they are learned, not fake, doctors

    Caste issues in India (Bharat) are far more dangerous than communal one... Every caste has sub castes and every sub caste another lower caste... These human divisions are beyond borders or religions... They have become cancerous ... Politicians are the only beneficiaries of these ghastly divides...

    There is nothing for BJP to talk about development , unemployment , cost of living, poverty and women’s safety . As a last resort they have started to create communal disharmony with issues like Sanatana Dharma and riots like in Manipur and Haryana and releasing rapists and murderer before elections to gain votes. People of Karnataka rejected them by vast majority so will other states when they see what they are and their scams.
