Ahmedabad, Sep 6 (IANS): Unhappy with their daughter's love marriage to a Dalit man, a family allegedly consumed poison leading to death of a man and his elder son in Dholka town in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district.
Kiran Rathod (52), his wife Neetaben (50), and their two sons, Harsh (24) and Harshil (19), resorted to the extreme step on September 5 night.
The family was unhappy since their daughter married the man of her choice about a year ago.
An FIR has been filed against 18 individuals, including the in-laws of Rathod's daughter, on charges of abetment of suicide.
Neighbours, upon learning about the incident, promptly called for an ambulance and alerted the authorities. The man and his elder son were declared dead on arrival at a private hospital, while the woman and younger son are currently undergoing treatment.
