Mangaluru, Sep 6: Prof B Rajgopal Bhat rightly said, “Expert is an institution where dreams are nurtured, talents are honed and futures are changed.” He was speaking as a chief guest on the Teachers’ Day celebrated at Expert PU College, Kodialbail, honouring the hard work of their teachers and staff through a day of celebrations and blessings. The grand cultural fiesta left an indelible mark on the hearts of students and teachers alike. The day was a vibrant ode to the guiding lights of students - their beloved teachers.
The festivities began with ‘Guru Vandana’, a soulful rendition that paid tribute to the gurus and mentors who have illuminated the path of knowledge. The resonant voices of the students echoed their heartfelt appreciation for their teachers. The age-old traditional ritual brought spiritual calmness and unity to everyone present.
The student council president Chandira Bhat welcomed the august gathering and set the tone for the day's celebrations. A poignant moment followed with the lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to Dr S. Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary we commemorate as Teachers’ Day.
The college released its new sports jersey. The students put on a mesmerizing performance, using the language of dance to convey their gratitude to the teaching fraternity.
Prof Bhat was honoured on this day for being the teacher exemplary which was a touching segment in recognition of his dedication and commitment to the student's growth and well-being. His words of wisdom and encouragement resonated with students and teachers alike, emphasizing the importance of the teacher-student relationship.
Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert PU College, in his message, highlighted the institution's commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also the overall development of students. He ended his address by stating a Kannada proverb, ‘Hara Munidare, Guru Kaayuvanu, Guru Munidare, Yaaru Kaayuvanu’.
Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson of Expert College, also graced the occasion with her presence and shared her insights on the significance of teachers in shaping the future of society. In her keynote address she stated, “Teachers are the adult version of students.” She instilled in students to accept every individual teacher the way they are, just the way they expect the teachers to be impartial.
The student secretary, Adithya N, delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all the participants, teachers, and staff who had contributed to the success of the event.
After the formal proceedings, the cultural fiesta continued with a colourful and captivating array of performances. The teachers showcased their talents through Yakshagana, filmi, and folk dances, songs, and skits that enthralled the student audience.
Principal Ramachandra Bhat, college IT director Ankush N Nayak, architect Deepika A Nayak, Ustaad Rafiq Khan, trustee, member of academic committee, B Vinay Kumar also graced the occasion. The formal function was hosted by student members Twisha Acharya and Pradhyun. The cultural programme was hosted by the head of the Hindi department, Prof Pramod Kini. As part of the Teachers’ Day celebration, a sumptuous lunch was arranged for the teachers.
