Udupi: Janmastami - Arghya Pradhan held at Sri Krishna Math, speaker UT Khader visits temple

Udupi, Sep 7: On the occasion of Krishna Janmastami, Vidyasagar Tirtha Shripad, the Paryaya Krishnapur seer conducted Arghya Pradhan and performed the rituals of Krishna Janmastami in Sri Krishna Math here.

During the Arghya Pradhan, Karnataka legislative assembly speaker U T Khader visited the Math, washed his feet in Madhva Sarovar and had Krishna darshan. He was accompanied by Congress leaders.

The birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with auspiciousness by offering arghya to Lord Krishna. The rites of Arghya Pradhan were performed in Sri Krishna temple and in Tulsi Katta infront of the temple. Kaniyur seer Vidyavallabha Theertha and Shiroor seer Sri Vedvardhana Theertha Shripad were also present.

After the Arghya Pradhan by the seers, hundreds of devotees who were fasting during the day also performed Arghya Pradhan. Milk and water was offered as Arghya through conch.

Vitlapindi celebration will be held on the occasion of Sri Krishna Leelotsava on Thursday September 7 and thousands of people will participate in the festival which will be held in the afternoon. Food prasadam will also be distributed to thousands of people in the morning and Unde chakkuli dedicated to the Lord will be distributed to the devotees.
