Mangaluru: ‘Guruvandana’ held for retired staff members of Ladyhill Victoria High School

Mangaluru, Sep 7: ‘Guruvandana’ programme was organized for the retired staff members of Ladyhill Victoria High School on September 5 with great pomp and grandeur.

On the occasion of the bicentennial birth anniversary of Venerable Mother Veronica, it was decided to felicitate all the retired staff members.

They were brought to the auditorium accompanied by the school band.

The programme began with the prayer service followed by a welcome speech by Vamshika where every teacher was given a floral welcome.

Welcome dance by the classical dancers of the school was really a treat to the eyes. A group of students performed a skit depicting the role of teacher and how a teacher can change the life of a child which was followed by a folk dance. The students also arranged some spot games for the teachers to entertain them.

The retired teachers were felicitated by the management acknowledging the hard work they put in during their tenure. The achievements of the teachers were read out by teachers Wilma Lobo and Bindu.

Aruna, one of the retired teachers addressed the gathering expressing the journey on the occasion and recalling her memories in the school and how a teacher can be instrumental in a child's life.

Numerous spot games were conducted accentuating the momentum of the occasion. The principal awarded the prize to the winners of spot games. Vote of thanks was rendered by the principal Sr Ujvala AC. Sweets were distributed to the children.

Later, the PTA members organized a get together for teaching and non-teaching staff. The event began with a prayer song followed by a welcome address by PTA vice president Jayaram Karandoor. Fun games were conducted by a PTA member Arun. The programme ended with a thank you note by Manjula.
