Puttur: Skill development programme valedictory held at St Philomena College

Puttur, Sep 8: The valedictory ceremony for a 15-day certificate course, a collaborative effort between the Department of Computer Science and the Placement Cell of St Philomena College, took place at Spandana Hall of the college on September 7. The course was sponsored by Honeywell and coordinated by ICT Academy.

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college in his presidential address, emphasized the importance of practical knowledge gained through participation in such skill development programs. He urged students to shift their focus from solely chasing high marks and prizes to embracing new forms of learning and appreciating those who provide valuable resources. Dr Monteiro also extended his gratitude to all involved parties for the grand success of the course.

Venkataramana, the ICT Academy trainer, enlightened students about various job opportunities in the CRM field, offering insights into how students could secure jobs and connect with potential employers. Another trainer, G Anand, commended the students for their unwavering dedication during the training period. Outstanding performers were duly honoured.

The event commenced with a warm welcome and introductory remarks by Abhishek Suvarna, assistant professor of the Department of Business Administration and ICT Academy Institutional coordinator. Abhishek, along with Bipul Dung Dung, III BCA student shared their valuable perspectives. Vinay Chandra, dean of department of computer science extended a vote of thanks, and Brinda of III BCA, compered the event.

As many as 118 final-year BCA students participated in the certificate course programme, successfully completing three exams during their training. ICT Academy presented certificates to those who excelled in the final examination, marking a significant step towards their future careers. This collaboration between academia, industry, and motivated students exemplifies the commitment to fostering practical skills and opening new avenues for career growth. Assistant professors from the department of computer science were graciously present on the occasion.
