Mangaluru: Serial accident on NH 66 – Car badly damaged, occupants escape with minor injuries

Mangaluru, Sep 9: The occupants of a car escaped with minor injuries in a serial accident on NH 66 under the limits of South traffic police station on Saturday September 9.

The driver of a Ciaz car that was moving from Thokottu to Mangaluru applied brakes suddenly. Due to this, a truck which was following the car hit its rear end. A WagonR car which was speeding behind the truck, applied brakes. A Kerala state bus that was following the WagonR crashed into it from behind which pushed the car into the truck.  

The WagonR was totally mangled. Other vehicles also got damaged to a certain extent. All five people in four vehicles escaped with minor injuries.

South traffic police have registered a case.

    The heavy vehicles should have a separate lane specially on the highways. Maintaining distance is very important between vehicles. Thank God no casualties.

    This resembles a super highway pile up; clearly demonstrates how trained and vigilant our drivers are; no doubt we rank among the lowest on the world road safety scale.... below some third world.....places!!
