New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS): Parking lots at Delhi Metro stations will be shut for 24 hours from Sunday afternoon for security reasons related to Independence Day but Metro services will not be hit.
"The parking of vehicles will not be allowed in any station from 2 p.m. Aug 14 (Sunday) to 2 p.m Aug 15 (Monday)," a Metro official said.
"This has been decided in view of the security measures on the occasion of the independence day (Monday)," the official added.
But Metro services will run as usual from 6 a.m. There will be no disruption of service Aug 15.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has deployed additional men at Metro stations, a senior CISF officer told IANS.
"Frisking of passengers will be intensified prior to independence day," the officer said.
