Kuwait: Our Lady of Arabia, Ahmadi celebrates Monthi Fest

Media Release

Kuwait, Sep 11: The Konkani community of Our Lady of Arabia, Ahmadi church celebrated the Nativity of Mother Mary on September 8.

The annual event began with a 9 day Novena, celebrated by Fr Roshan Rosario providing insight and reflection on the life of Mother Mary during the mission of Jesus Christ and how her life of service and sacrifice should be an inspiration to each and every one. Many parishioners along with children attended the nine day novenas to honour Mother Mary.

The festive Mass on September 8 began with children gathered near the altar dressed in their festive best with colourful flowers arranged on their plates. A procession with beautiful angels and altar servers followed by the priest entered the church. After blessing of new paddy and introductory prayers, the children showered flowers on Infant Mary while the choir melodiously sang ‘Moreak Hogolsiya’. The shower of various collared flowers brought back nostalgic memories of Monthi Fest during childhood days.

Fr Roshan in his homily stressed on the importance of a strong family bond where elders and youngsters should live in peace and harmony. He encouraged everyone gathered to look at the inner beauty bestowed by God and live a life of purity just as Mother Mary.

The Konkani committee president Ronald D’Silva thanked Fr Roshan Rosario and everyone gathered for a successful Monthi Fest Mass. Parish priest Fr Roswin thanked the gathered and wished everyone a blessed Monthi Fest. Through generous donors, the children were able to enjoy sugarcane and snacks.
