Mangaluru: Mortal remains of bank official found in hotel swimming pool

Mangaluru, Sep 11: The police sources here informed that they found the mortal remains of a bank official in the swimming pool of a prestigious hotel in the city.

The deceased was identified as Gopu R Nair, 38, who was a bank employee and was in the town to attend a business conference on Sunday.

The Mangaluru South Police station was informed of the incident who reached the Moti Mahal Hotel where the incident happened. On their arrival and verifying the facts, the police ascertained that the deceased was a resident of Thiruvananthapuram.

He had checked into the hotel on Sunday at around 11 am and at 4 pm he went for a swim in the hotel's pool. Police suspect that the deceased may have been under the influence of alcohol and that he might have lost control of himself and had died while swimming.

Gopu Nair was staying alone in the hotel. His mortal remains were found on Monday in the morning by the hotel staff.

The entire activity has been captured on the hotel's CCTV. An empty alcohol bottle was also found in his room which was seized by the police.

A case has been registered bearing the number UDR No 75/2023 in Mangaluru South police station. Police are investigating accordingly.

    Sad news.Why he came to mangalore to die?Suspicious.We cant tell every dead person died due to vaccination.Did any employees not found he is lying in Pool?May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to the family.Hope they will find out the reason.

    Why he came alone? What made him to come to the pool 4 am? May be suicide. Check his call log may give answer?
