Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates Monthi Fest, Int’l Literacy, Girl Child Day

Mangaluru, Sep 11: September 8 is celebrated as the birthday of the most loving and beloved mother of all – Blessed Mother Mary. This day also marks International Literacy Day, Harvest Festival and National Girl Child Day. On the whole, it is a remarkable day that has its festive attribute.

To bring in the festive importance and the day’s significance a spectacular and meaningful programme was organised at St Agnes School CBSE on September 7 in Block II Hall. The grade X students presented a meaningful programme.




In preparation for this tremendous day, 9 days of novena were organised with the Carmel blossom students followed by the offering of flowers as a sign of veneration. The students and the faculty members took part in the solemn Eucharistic celebration. Fr Praveen Arahna, the main celebrant of the mass presented a meaningful homily on the importance of being a girl and respect towards mothers in life as they sacrifice and love for the wellbeing of children.

A short cultural programme was organised in the afternoon. It began with a splendid prayer service depicting values such as purity, prudent, faith, mercifulness. A devotional song on mother Mary was presented by the students followed by welcome dance, a skit depicting the importance of girl child and digital display on the significance of the day.

The chief guest Jeshma D'Souza, the former English faculty of St Agnes PU College presided over the function and thanked the principal and staff for inviting her on the occasion. She congratulated the students for presenting a meaningful programme and shared her words of wisdom on the importance of the day. She highlighted the simple practices which may help them to be better and powerful people. She encouraged students to be at their best.

Principal Sr Maria Sarika AC, vice principal Sr Lenita Lobo AC, faculty and students were present for the programme.

The programme was compered by Adya and Tanisha, Velony welcomed the gathering and Rachel proposed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude for the enthusiastic participation. The programme concluded with the school anthem.
