Udupi, Sep 11: “Nearly 5,000 people will be reading the foreword to the Constitution of India together on September 15 as per the directions of the state government,” said Udupi deputy commissioner Dr K Vidya Kumari.
Speaking in a news conference held at the office of the deputy commissioner at Manipal, she said that the programme will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi sports ground, Ajjarkadu at 10 am on September 15.
“The programme will also be held at all the government offices, industrial centres and educational institutes. The organiations who participate in it can obtain certificates,” she said.
“The medical tests programme under the Ayushman Bhava project of the union government will be inaugurated by the President of India on September 12. The programme will be held in three stages,” she said.
160 Dengue cases in a week
“Dengue cases have risen in Udupi and 160 Dengue cases were reported in the district in a week. The cases which were 189 a few days ago have gone up to 350. The cases were more in the urban areas but there were no deaths,” she said.
