Puttur, Sep 14: St Philomena PU College organized ‘Philo Pratibha’ day-long inter school competitions for high school students on September 14 at silver jubilee memorial hall.
The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp.
The president Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent, Mai De Deus Church Institutions in his presidential remarks said, "Everyone are unique. Everyone is bestowed with one or the other talent and it is our duty to identify and exhibit the talent.” He added that participation is very important. He advised students to have trust in God and be kind towards others and help people in need.
Chief guest Rtn Oscar Anand proprietor Mega Centre, Bolwar Puttur advised students to look after their health because health is wealth. He added, “Life is filled with ups and downs and it is our responsibility to balance life.”
Guest of honour Fr Stany Pinto, campus director, St Philomena Institutions said that the students should participate and showcase their talent. He motivated students that no technology can match the knowledge or wisdom of human beings. He advised students to make the best use of the opportunity available to shape their personality.
Fr Roopesh Tauro, warden of Boys Hostel, Jerald, vice president, Parish Pastoral Council, Puttur, and Jaga Jeevan Das Rai, president, Alumni Association were present.
About 1000 students from 42 high schools participated in various competitions like seminar presentation, clay model, best out of waste, stand-up comedy, face painting, pencil sketch, science model, theme dance, advertisement, collage making and quiz.
The coordinator Dr Asha Savithri, department of Hindi coordinated the programme.
Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal,St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur welcomed the gathering. Dr Asha Savithri, coordinator of Philo Pratibha proposed Vote of thanks. Mr Santhosh Clarence D'Souza, Dept of Commerce compered the programme.
