Udupi: District bodies jointly rescue 3 children involved in child labour

Udupi, Sep 14: The district labour department, district child labour project association, district legal services authority, district children protection unit, social welfare department, children’s helpline and Udupi district citizen committee have jointly rescued three children fishing at Malpe port and a mother with a child begging and produced them in front of the children’s welfare committee.

As per the directions of the children's welfare committee, a boy was rehabilitated at Balakara Bala Mandira and two female children were provided shelter at Balakiyara Bala Mandira. The mother and the child were handed over to the custody of the social welfare department.

Senior judge and district legal services authority member secretary Sharmila S, district child labour project association project director Amrutha, children’s unit staff Yogish, Sandesh, children’s helpline staff Nayana, Reshma, Prakash, social worker Nithyananda Olakadu and city station police took part in the operation.
