New Delhi, Sep 16: New Delhi boy Sahal Kaushik scripted history in 2010 when he cracked the highly competitive IIT-JEE examination at 14, making him the youngest student to achieve this milestone. He shattered the age norms by securing an All India Rank of 33 and thus Sahal's academic journey began in what could be called as a redefining moment of defying conventional notions of learning.

Sahal Kaushik's thirst for knowledge led him to IIT Kanpur where he enrolled in the five-year integrated MSc (Physics) programme for undergraduates.

Sahal Kaushik was charting a different course from his peers as he earned the distinction of becoming the youngest PhD scholar in the United States at the age of 19 setting a precedent for academic excellence. His pursuits took him to Stony Brook University in New York where he delved into the intricate world of High Energy Particles and pushed the boundaries of scientific inquiry and temper.

Sahal also demonstrated his prowess in academics by excelling in tests such as the GRE where he scored 337 out of 340 and TOEFL where he achieved 112 out of 120 marks which laid the foundation for his international academic sojourn.

Sahal's decision to pursue his PhD in the US also allowed him to break free from his introverted shell and emerge as an outgoing and matured individual ready to embrace the world of academia at a global level. Earlier, his mother had been a constant presence during his IIT Kanpur days.

Sahal Kaushik also exhibited an exceptional ability to absorb knowledge and memorise multiplication tables up to 100 from a young age. His interests transcended textbooks encompassing Star Wars games, a love for films and a penchant for reading. He was an avid follower of pop culture and enjoyed Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings series.

While Sahal Kaushik did not face age restrictions to study at IIT, he had to meet the educational prerequisites by scoring 78% in Class 12 thereby cementing his eligibility to pursue his dreams.

His pillar of strength was his mother Ruchi Kaushik, a doctor-turned-homemaker who played a pivotal role in nurturing his academic journey. She offered Sahal relentless support and thus shaped his path towards greatness.
