Hazare Arrested for Defying Police Orders: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): Gandhian Anna Hazare was arrested Tuesday for refusing to abide by conditions imposed by police regarding his proposed hunger strike, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said Tuesday.

He told reporters that when Delhi Police imposed certain conditions, Team Anna refused to embrace them.

"If someone says we will defy the orders, I think this is unacceptable in a democracy," he said. "It is a real regret that police have taken this action."

"This government is not against democratic or peaceful protests," he said. "Democratic or peaceful protests are a part of the right of a free citizen.

"We acknowledge that right but that right is subject to conditions laid down by authorities charged with the duty to maintain law and order."

Chidambaram added that he was ready to make a statement in parliament on the Hazare situation. "But they (opposition) did not want the statement."

Dear Mr Mallar, HM hasclearly mentioned that peaceful protest is acceptable, for ur kind info. if any organisation decides to protest first they have to clear all their govt. proceegers for the Approval. when Anna is against the proceegers then who will take responsibility if any thing goes wrong in the protest?? there would be thousands in protests Anna would never take responsiblity, he would blame Govt & police Dept. they have a right job by arresting him and showing no one is above law & order. Anna's protest smells of Violence. good job done by Govt and Police be4 it would become problem tothem answering wjhole nation. JAI HIND AND god save our country by fake Gandhi's

What is undemocratic and unpeaceful in Anna's action? If some one wants to go to a public park and fast it is his choice. If people support him, it is their choice. Where is the question of law and order comes? It is quite obvious that Delhi Police put so many unacceptable conditions.
How come Congress yielded to Chandrasekhar Rao's fast by declaring Telangana? What is so democratic and peaceful about Telangana movement? What is democratic and peaceful in Kerala where every week sees a forced hartal by this part or other?

So Gandhiji also was wrong in going fast unto death and non violent way instead of talking and talking to British by same analogy.

This is the height of hypocracy.
