Maiden celebration of Monthi Fest in Netherlands

Media Release

Netherlands, Sep 22: In a historic and spiritually enriching event, the Konkani Samudhai Netherlands celebrated the feast of the nativity of Mother Mary for the very first time.

This dream-turned-reality was a significant moment for the Konkani Catholics residing in the Netherlands. The event took place on September 16, at the magnificent St Michael’s Kerk in Breda. The festivities commenced with a heartfelt tribute to Mother Mary, including the offering of flowers and blessings for a bountiful harvest.

The heart and soul of the celebration was a solemn holy Mass, a true spiritual communion with Mother Mary. The Mass, celebrated by the esteemed Fr Richard Lobo SVD, was a moment of profound grace and reflection for all attendees. Following the holy Mass, the congregation enjoyed a delightful programme featuring games and a scrumptious dinner. A total of 45 people, both adults and children, came together to partake in the celebration. The feast menu was a gastronomic delight, with dishes like Pork bafat, channa sukka, kuvalo curry, buns, vorn, salad, pickles, and rice, all meticulously prepared by the community.
