Mangaluru: School of Social work Roshni Nilaya conducts street play on anti – Drug awareness

Mangaluru Sep 25: School of Social work Roshni Nilaya in collaboration with Mangaluru City Police and our lady of miracles church Milagres conducted street play on Anti – Drug awareness here at Milagres church compound on Saturday September 23.

ACP Mangaluru central division Mahesh Prasad was the guest.

In the last couple of months, Mangaluru Police are acting swiftly to curb down drug menace in the district. Then police commissioner Kuldeep Jain and present police commissioner Anupam Agrawal are conducting raids and arresting the peddlers in order to make drug free Mangaluru. In last couple of months huge quantities of drugs have been seized from the peddlers.

Even several associations, educational institutions have joined hands with Mangaluru Police to make drug free Mangaluru. Awareness programs, street plays and other activities pertaining to make drug free Mangaluru have been organized.

Mangaluru diocese also conducting programs which started from September 1, on September 25 a walkthon is organized from Padua College to Bendur Church to create awareness on drugs.

School of Social work Roshni Nilaya is always in the forefront in collaborating with Police department in their activities, the students of the college collaborate with the police during road safety week and are conducting street play in every corner of the city.  

Associate professor and HOD of economics department Cecilia Goveas, associate professor and hod of Psychology department Dr Sandra Sunitha Lobo, hod of criminology department Sarik Ankitha, hod of sociology Dr Kiran Prasad, parish priest Milagres church Fr Bonaventure Nazreth, assistant parish priest Fr Robin Santhumayor, principal Milagres College Fr Micheal Santhumayor and others were present.

Street play was aslo conducted on September 24 at Milagres church compound. On October 1, the street play will be conducted at Attavar Katte and outside Noel Mathias park.
