Mangaluru: Blood donation camp & World Pharmacist day held at Srinivas College of Pharmacy

Mangaluru, Sep 25: NSS unit of Srinivas College of Pharmacy in association with Indian Pharmaceutical association, D K District, Mangaluru and Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mukka, Surathkal has organised blood donation camp in Srinivas College Campus, Valachil on September 25 on the occasion of World Pharmacists Day.

Dr Sukanya, dept of Pathology and Dr Roopa, blood bank officer, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mukka, Surathkal supervised the camp.


On this occasion Dr A R Shabaraya principal and director, & president, IPA local branch, Mangaluru inaugurated the programme and stressed the significance of blood donation to save lives. 50 volunteers have donated the blood in the camp.

NSS programme coordinators, Dr Shripathy D, Dr Viresh K Chandur, Ashoka Shenoy coordinated the arrangements of the camp. Ramdas Bhat, Dr Christy Chacko and Vaishnavi assisted the NSS Programme coordinators in organizing the programme.

Srinivas College of Pharmacy in association with Indian Pharmaceutical association, D K District, Mangaluru celebrated World Pharmacists day-2023 with theme “Pharmacy strengthening health systems” in Srinivas Campus on September 25.

On this occasion, First Aid & CPR training programme was also organized. Dr J N Bhat, trainer & blood bank officer, Indian Red Cross Society, D K District, Mangaluru was the chief guest of the occasion. He has inaugurated the World Pharmacists Day programme, outlined the significance of First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedure.

Later, he demonstrated the different first aid techniques and CPR procedure with the help of student volunteers. He has explained different instruments used in those procedures.

Dr A R Shabaraya principal and director, president, IPA local branch, Mangaluru in his presidential remarks explained the significance of role of pharmacists in healthcare system. He has further added, the pharmacists should also be trained in giving first aid help to the needy in the case of emergency.

Dr EVS Subrahmanyam, professor, SCP & vice president, IPA local branch welcomed the guests.

Programme coordinators, Dr Satish S, Dr Shripathy D, Dr Viresh K Chandur and Dr Padmavathi P Prabhu were also present.

Dr Christy Chacko & Smitha C S anchored the programme. Dr Viresh K Chandur, proposed vote of thanks. Students in large number participated in the programme.
