Udupi, Sep 26: A Capacity building program on 'Elementary Science' conducted by Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru was held on September 23 in St Mary’s English Medium School. The training program was uniquely inaugurated by the correspondent, Fr Charles Menezes with an artful act of adorning a blank canvas with a vibrant array of colours, a process rooted in the intriguing science of visual perception. As the hues blended and merged, they unveiled a meaningful message, harnessing the principles of science and the interplay of chemicals and the perceptive faculties to engage and captivate the audience.
Principal Fr Johnson Sequeira, in his introductory remarks, said that science permeates our daily existence, and this program urges participants to extract valuable insights from this transformative journey. By embracing these lessons, they can nurture their innate scientific curiosity and skills from an early age, empowering them to forge a brighter future driven by the power of knowledge and discovery. He introduced the resource persons and extended the note of welcome.
Correspondent Fr Charles Menezes, in his message, highlighted that curiosity and creativity are inseparable companions, deserving of cultivation and development. Embracing a scientific mind-set in our daily lives allows us to seamlessly integrate scientific principles into our routines, fostering a harmonious relationship between innovation and exploration, and enriching our journey through life.
Sheela Balamurali, master trainer, CBSE, principal of Delhi Public School, MRPL, Mangaluru and Manoj M Bhat, principal, NLES Rotary Public School, Hubballi, Centre of Excellence for Bengaluru were the resource persons. Various aspects of Science Education like Science in the light of NCF 2005, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Domains of learning, 21st Century Competencies, Experiential Learning, Lesson Planning, Rubrics of Assessment were explored as participants engaged in dynamic interactive sessions, activities and illustration of concepts.
As many as 60 teachers from various sections participated in this training program.
