Mangalore: Palemar Pays Surprise Visit to Taluk Office

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Aug 18: To ensure that the instructions passed by the state’s new Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, that all the government offices have to dispose off files within 15 days, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, paid a surprise visit to the taluk office here on Wednesday August 17 to scrutinize its working.

He noted that the taluk office receives around 1,000 files per day, and that about 5,000 out of 25,485 files received during July 2011 are pending disposal. He said he has received complaints about slow movement of files in this office, and instructed the officials to be quick in moving files.

He sought details of pending files, and directed the officials to ensure that all the files are attended within 15 days of their receipt at the office. He took to task certain officials for lethargic handling of work, and warned of stern action in case of failure.

Noting that the taluk office suffers from shortage of staff, he promised to address the issue within the next two months. He said he will undertake such surprise visits to all the taluk offices in the district, and order suspension of officials found guilty, if he finds that they are responsible for keeping files pending for abnormally long periods.
