Kundapur: Protests by lorry owners, drivers enters third day

Kundapura, Sep 28: The protests by Kota area lorry owners and drivers near Kota Moorkai against the orders of district administration and district police department has entered the third day. The protesters took out a procession from Kota to Saligrama holding buffaloes and bullock carts.

Byndoor lorry and drivers association president Diwaker Shetty expressed his anguish opposing slapping of the law that was non-existent. “Udupi district has a piece of land. Can the stones and mud here be brought under law? Several families have come to the streets due to your interim orders. You should hold its responsibility. Daily wagers have become insecure. Solve the problem soon,” he urged.

The protest rally that started from Kota Moorkai entered Saligrama and arrived at the protest venue.

The protesters held torches at the protest venue on Wednesday night, shouted slogans and expressed their anguish.

BJP leader Airody Vittal Poojary, Congress leader Ashok Poojary, lorry owners and driver’s association leader Shiriara Ganesh Prasad Kanchan, Gunakar Shetty, Bhoja Poojary, Mahabala Poojary, Dinakar Poojary, Sudhir Malyadi, Ganesh Poojary, Janardhan Poojary and others were present.
