Udupi, Sep 29: Girija V Kanchan, the founder president of Barkur Mogaveera Mahila Sanghatane, has sadly passed away at the age of 76. She resided in Honala village and was admitted to Manipal Hospital three days ago due to breathing difficulties. She succumbed to a heart attack on Friday, September 29 morning.
Girija V Kanchan is survived by her husband, a daughter, and a large circle of friends and relatives. She dedicated eight years of her life to the sanghatane and actively participated in spiritual work and pilgrimage during festivals at temples such as Bennekudru, Uchilamahalakshmi, Bagwadi, and others.
Girija was a prominent figure in community organization from a young age and was well-known for her charitable contributions. She had effectively served as the president of the Mogaveera ladies' society, taking on various responsibilities with great success.
