Mangaluru: ‘Namma Kambala’ to be held in Bengaluru on Nov 25-26

Mangaluru, Sep 30: “Bengaluru Kambala Samithi along with Zilla Kambala Samithi will organise Bengaluru Kambala (Namma Kambala) in Bengaluru on November 25 and 26 at Palace Grounds,” said president of Bengaluru Kambala Samithi president Ashok Kumar Rai.

He was addressing a press meet after holding a meeting with the owners of Kambala buffaloes here on Saturday, September 30.

Rai said, “As many as 125 pairs of buffaloes and owners will take part in the Kambala. The owners and buffaloes will leave to Bengaluru after holding a huge procession in Mangaluru. The buffaloes will be ferried in lorries. A two-and-half hour break will be given to the buffaloes in Hassan. Giving importance to the health of the animals, food and water will be exclusively carried from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

“Already, accommodation to host 150 people is arranged for the buffalo owners in Bengaluru. People from Tulunadu will welcome the buffaloes and owners in various places during the journey. Celebrities from various film industries will witness the Kambala. As many as 8 lakh people will visit the venue to watch the Kambala in two days. Exhibition-cum-sale of Tulunadu food will be available at the venue. As many as 2000 VVIP seating arrangements and gallery for 10,000 viewers will be made ready. All basic facilities will be provided in the venue including parking facilities. The entire world will witness this event through media.

“The Samithi will also urge the government to construct a Tulu Bhavana in Bengaluru and to sanction a Kambala Bhavan at Pilikula in Mangaluru,” he said.

Rai further said that achievers in Kambala will be felicitated during the occasion. “All the participants will be awarded medals. There is a demand from the ministers and officials to run buffaloes on their behalf. Eight ambulances with veterinary doctors will accompany the lorries carrying the buffaloes. The entire event will be done at a cost of Rs 6 crore approximately,” he said.

District president of Zilla Kambala Samithi Dr Devi Prasad Shetty also addressed the media at the press meet.
