Udupi, Oct 2: “Students should focus on studies and should compromise on moral values. Parents should not pressurize the children but should encourage,” said Rotarian Alwyn Quadros, assistant district rotary governor. He was speaking in the Apoorva Hall of Anugraha pastoral Centre Kakkunje, inaugurating Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh and the late Theresa Cornelio Kemmannu Scholarship distribution programme on October 1.
Guests of honour Veronica Cornelio and Ligoury D’Souza encouraged the students to do well in their studies. Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves thanked the late Theresa Cornelio family for coming forward to help the needy students. President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Santhosh Cornelio presided. Secretary Olivia D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks. Convener of the programme Dr Gerald Pinto welcomed the gathering. Niyojit president Ronald Almeida and treasurer Gerald Rodrigues were present.
Thirty students were awarded the late Theresa Cornelio Kemmannu and the late James Lobo Mangalore scholarships and 12 students were awarded Catholic Sabha scholarship. As much as Rs 4.2 lac was given as scholarships for the needy and deserving students of the Udupi diocese.
