Udupi MLA instructs officials to handover Herga Saralebettu residential complex by Nov 1

Udupi, Oct 7: MLA Yashpal Suvarna warned officials of city municipality to handover the houses build on nine acres of land at Babbuswamy Layout at Herga Saralebettu under Pradhan Mantri Awaas scheme by November 1 or else face legal action.

Suvarna held meeting with officials in this regard. After the meeting Suvarna said, “Work of houses built at Herga Saralebettu is 80% completed. Due to technical issue, the work is stalled. That is why handing over of houses to beneficiaries is getting delayed. They are facing problems of paying loan as well as rent of their present houses. So I have instructed the concerned to complete the work by November 1 and handover the houses.

“Bank releases home construction loan in phases. As the contractor has not completed the work, there is delay in release of funds. I feel the pain of people,” he said.

In the meeting that was held on Saturday, traffic congestion in the city, parking issues, development of city, pending works, proper maintenance of street light, scarcity of drinking water in coming days were discussed.

City municipality commissioner, CI of police, SI of Udupi traffic police, members of city municipality and officials were present.
