Mangaluru, Oct 7: The Congress government has done injustice to the fishermen folk in the coastal area. They have failed to fulfill their promises. Fishing is a prominent business in the coastal region. Several people depend on fishing for their livelihood,” said Mangaluru south MLA D Vedavyas Kamath.

Speaking to media on Saturday October 7, he said, “The Congress government claims that their government is a government of walking the talk. A Congress leader who visited Uchila during the recent assembly elections promised to fulfil various demands of the fishermen folk if the Congress is voted to power. Why has the Congress government failed to fulfil the promises made to the fishermen community? Have they introduced any new scheme for the welfare of the community? They have sanctioned funds for the schemes introduced by the then BJP government. Rahul Gandhi promised to provide Rs 10 lac worth insurance to the fishermen and the government also promised to provide Rs 25 lac subsidy for diesel. Rahul Gandhi assured of resolving issues related to dredging after holding meeting with the chief minister.”

The MLA also said that the Congress leader had promised to provide all facilities provided to the farmers in the state. The government had also assured to introduce sea ambulance to recue fishermen in case of emergency in the sea. The Congress leader has made false promises to the fishermen, said Kamath.

“Though the Congress government announced rupees Rs 3 lac interest-free loan for fisherwomen, the announcement just remained in papers. Has the Congress announced any new scheme for the welfare of the fishermen community? It has only continued the schemes approved by the then BJP government. In the past three years, the union government and the previous BJP government in state has sanctioned RS 16.17 crore to the district to implement several schemes under PM, Matsyasampada project,” he said.

The MLA further added, “When the budgets of the earlier BJP tenure and present Congress government in the state are compared, it is very clear that the Congress has done nothing for the welfare of the fishermen community. It has neglected fishermen and done injustice to them.”

Mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Nithin Kumar and others were present.

People in India are very gullible, especially the majority faith, who are being fooled by the Politicians and Political parties claiming to be Hindu, with big promises if they are voted to power! What Power! Why do you need people who are hungry for power to rule over you? This culture started after 2014 when BJP was voted in power. All people of India, irrespective of their faith, must understand, that no one is responsible for your lives or your for your livelihood, and that the political parties and the politician who work for such devious parties, are simply playing the faith card, as the intend to get maximum votes from the poor masses. You have to work for your daily bread and for taking care of your monthly expenses such as House Rents or House Tax, Electricity, Transportation, Education, Medical, and Groceries and the inflation. No BJP or Congress will put food on your table or pay your bills. What is so difficult to understand this universal concept of living and life. Even in a super big and super rich country USA, people have to work hard to their livelihood, although the Political parties and politicians may promises many things. Nothing comes to pass!

He is one of the best MLA we had in Mangalore. All those thugs before 2014 did nothing except for filing their own coffers. This is the reason why Mangalore will never vote for this grand old party.
