Mangaluru, Oct 8: The team led by the City Police Commissioner clinched the top spot in the Brand Mangaluru Friendly Cricket Tournament, while the Dakshina Kannada SP-led team secured the second position.
The final match of the tournament, organized jointly by the DK District Working Journalists' Association, DK District Administration, DK Zilla Panchayat, Mangaluru Police Commissionerate, DK District Police Department, Sahyadri Technical University, and Rohan Corporation, was held at the Adyar Sahyadri ground on Sunday, October 8. In this thrilling final, the City Police Commissioner's team triumphed over the DK District SP's team.
Ghalib was named the Man of the Match, and Siddu from the Police Commissioner's team received the Man of the Series award.
The awards were presented by notable figures, including Dakshina Kannada District Working Writers Association president Srinivas Naik Indaje, senior journalist Manohar Prasad, Mangaluru Press Club President P B Harish Rai, State Executive Committee member Ibrahim Adkasthala, Police Inspector Gurudatta Kamath, DK District Working Journalists' Association general secretary Jitendra Kundeshwara, treasurer Pushparaj B N, Executive Committee member Rajesh Daddangadi, and Raymond D'Cunha.
The tournament featured the participation of teams from the police commissioner's office, the District SP's office, the Zilla Panchayat CEO's office, and the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists' President's team.
Earlier, the Brand Mangaluru Friendly Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at Sahyadri College Stadium by Dr K Ananda, the DK District chief officer and In-charge collector. In his speech, police commissioner Anupam Agarwal emphasized the importance of cooperation and a friendly atmosphere for the comprehensive development of Mangaluru. Srinivas Naik Indaje, the President of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Association, presided over the inauguration ceremony, which also featured the presence of senior journalist Manohar Prasad, Mangaluru Press Club president P B Harish Rai, State Executive Committee member of Karnataka Working Journalists' Association Jagannath Shetty Bala, and treasurer of DK District Working Journalists' Association Pushparaj B N. The program was efficiently compered by vice president Bhaskar Rai.
