Mangaluru: Over 12,000 Kannadigas stuck in war-torn Israel

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Oct 9: There are over 12000 Kannadigas in Israel which is in war with Palestine. Most of them work as care givers. Though all of them live in and around Jerusalem, they are safe. Around 50% of them are females. Mostly are Christians by faith and very small percentage are Hindus. More than 8000 of them are of Dakshina Kannada district.

Most of the coastal Kannadigas work in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Angelicum and Haifa. Though no attack has taken place in these areas, there are chances that Hamas might attack these areas also.

Leonard Fernandes, a native of Mangaluru, said, “I am working Israel since 14 years. I have witnessed rocket attacks many a times. But I have not seen war of this scale. Sirens are sounded three to four times in a day. We immediately run to safe areas or home shelter. There was siren on Saturday night and I went inside the shelter.”

Ram Kumar Amin, who returned to Mangaluru six months ago says, “Every house in Israel has got a small separate room called as a shelter. This helps in saving lives. As the siren is sounded, we need to enter that room. Only after another siren is given, we come out of the room.”

Leonard Fernandes also said, “I was supposed to reach Mangaluru on October 10 in order to take part in a family function. However, now flights are cancelled due to war. Coastal people are in touch with me and so far no one is affected. Two Indians, who went to hospital on Saturday lost contact with us. As their mobile phones were switched off, their family members were concerned. Now everything is fine.”

"Whether their faith is hinduism or Christianity, they are humans first." But Hindu activists and some Sena cults never believe in your logic, especially when Muslims are concerned 😞💃

what Hamas did s wrong but what Israel has done and also doing is wrong. Jews were the outsiders who invaded the land of Palestine. and even India has always supported Palestine. its only now because its connected to Muslims, people are taking stand but if you read the history, you will know the facts

"Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with Me" should be each and everyone's slogan. Every Citizen of the world yearns for peace, but just talking about peace is not the solution, peaceful actions and words will only lead to peace. Our world leaders are not peaceful people and the arms industry around the world is the most lucrative of businesses. The arms industry has been working overtime producing arms, as there is a huge demand from even very poor countries, leaving many in their citizens starving and others in dire need. Countries are going in for nuclear weapons, they want to annihilate their enemies in their millions. How can there ever be peace if this attitude is the order of the day.

Very sad, the world is troubled place now. My Dad who traveled extensively would say, after WW-II devastation, people understood the dire need of live and let live policy. Otherwise, whatever progress is made will be in ruins. Then people used to promote peace, harmony and tolerance. They used to say, even if everything go smooth in our life, we live about 60-70 years in this world, why not live in peace? However, present day rulers, who have not seen such grave calamity have again become over ambitious and trouble mongers, which results in arms race and disaster!

Ambedkar has written in his book " Pakistan or Partition of India " that muslims are always first for their religion second is the nation , this terrorist attack on Israel is another proof of his statement, Iran, Qatar provide milli9ns to hamas and aid buy turkey to the hamas terrorist group, turkey speaks about kashmir what a comedy, why no statement from rahul, karge, sonia, ramesh, dks, sidda about terrorist attack on isreal..., because indian muslims will be hurt, muslims in UK,Canada,Germany are celebrating hamas terrosit attack ,
