Kundapur: Truck on goods train catches fire, food items gutted

Kundapur, Oct 10: Fire erupted on a truck being transported by a goods train at Bijur railway station on Tuesday October 10. The truck had food items in it which got gutted in the incident.

The goods train that was carrying trucks on it from Kolad of Mumbai to Suratkal of Mangaluru had begun its journey on October 9.

On Tuesday morning, as it reached Bijur railway station, fire erupted suddenly in one of the trucks on the train. The staff on the train stopped the train immediately and tried to put off the fire.

Byndoor fire service also rushed to the railway station and brought the fire under control. The eatables that were loaded in the truck were burnt partially.

    Truck drivers on board these trains do cooking, roasting, frying, boiling, and even smoking on these trains from the beginning until the end of the journey. Drivers must take good precautions while doing such activities.
